The New Media department (NM) at UNC Asheville offers undergraduate-level study that leads to a BA degree. Student and faculty work includes 2D and 3D animation, stop motion, video, interactive art and design, web-based platforms, sonic art, performance art, installations, robotic, client-driven design and digital prints. Through studying theory and hands on practice students learn to explore and articulate new technological forms of art, design, and communication.
The department hosts an annual Juried student show which showcases student work that utilize new and old technologies, explore the intersection of art and science and experiment with new forms of narratives.
NMAC
New Media Arts Council (NMAC) is a student led organization, which provides mentors to students entering the New Media department.
